I'm 65kg and have a 7.5 Naish Arx (being fixed).At the moment I'm kiteless while I wait to get my Naish back so I need another kite obviously! The 7.5 is fine but it needs a bit of wind to get it going.As I am a light weight what second kite should I get. My board at moment is a large directional with plenty of volume. I can get going ok but not quite getting upwind yet any advice greatly apreciated?

how much wind is light wind?

well .. to leav no gap between the 7.5 and the new kite, you should take an intermediate kite with about 12 sqm. if you want more low end, go for a 14, but there'll be a gap where you're overpowered with the 14 but the 7.5 is not enough yet.

Thanks for the advice murdoc! Toby I guess anything from 8knts to 15knts summer breeze on the southcoast of England. Could anyone tell me the ratio to work out projected size of my ARX as i believe wipika use projected size?

Take a 14 m2 X2 or 13.5 m2 ArX and that´s it. Nothing bigger for your weight, should work from about 8 kts, for 80 kg guys from about 10 kts on depending on the board. Get on the water and stop calculating...

Ok, thanks murdoc so something in the 10m2 Flat area seems about right. What about make I really want something to learn on thats going to make it easier to get upwind. Walking down the beach isn't easy wooden groynes eveywhere!

for the 7.5m, you can take about 12m without problem.

take an intermediate kite - easy handling and relaunch will halp you staying upwind, and they're more forgiving concerning jumping

the north toro 12, naish aero 12, or wipika hydro 8.9 would fit (IMHO) the 7.5.
