Looking for a good 8-9 Meter kite

Postby Roadrunnertakesflite » Fri Apr 03, 2009 5:26 am

I'm looking for a good kite in the 8 to 9 meter range. Not sure where to start, but I've heard good things about the Cult. Not sure if that translates to the smaller sizes. I've also been considering the Best Kahoona 9.5 meter. Any Ideas/experiences that might help in my decision making? Thanks :thumb:

Try the 7m Core combat GT, it has the same low end as a lot of 8/9m kites, gets going in 16knots upwind with surfboard, it has great top end, excellent bar setup and overall good quality build. I do not work for Core or sell their products. :nono:

try out, if you can, Eclipse Thruster or Kima. Or Nano '08
I got the '08 8m and 12 thruster and 6m Nano
The new Kima kites are wave kites, but comparable to the '08 nano (sort of)

Anyway, If you want an all around kite in the 8m range, go with the 8m Thruster.
Amazing power, and depower. Great in waves, awesome hangtime, and most important: great price!
I don't even have the '09 kites yet, and I don't care...the '08 kites kick ass anyway.

Where ever you are, yo should be able o try out the Eclipse.
You love them !

look at the following:

RRD Obssesion 9m or 7m both sizes are awsome!!

Slingshot RPM grab one of these, they are going to fly off the shelves.

also bandit Dos 8m

there are so many great kites around now, its hard to choose, the best thing you can do is go demo a few then you will make your decision on that.

Go try an obsession...If you want a great 4 line hybrid thats fast, stable and has loads of depower. Had mine a few months and love it...saving for another one!! Re-launch is super easy, they've got plenty of power and great bar pressure so you always know where the kite is. The universal bar is great too, saves a bit of cash once you've bought the first one!! Plus they're pretty sick colours!!!:)

nothing is wrong with pimping if they believe on the quality and outcome of the kites that they're selling. i believe that every person has a diffrent style of riding. they are some that like jumping and others that like freestyle , while others just want to ride up and down and enjoy kiteboarding. so first you have to find out what style you like. my recomondation is try something new that no body in your erea has. like the era 8 meter 2009. i'm just giving an example.

Not many crappy 8/9m late model kites out there. You could get almost anything and love it. Pick a style of kite, ie. SLE or C or Delta and have at er. Delta will have the best low end, SLE the nicest high end, and the C will have the flying characteristics that the other two are trying to be like, but at the cost of some range and the dead simple relaunch.

8m OR Rise is my choice. yes - most small kites fly well. The Rise is super durable in the surf and covers a big range. Flying is believing for any kite, but do yourself a favor and check out the 8m Rise.

Don't forget that a good bar matters a lot too. The rise bar is super simple and clean. :thumb:
