I've been riding the crud out of my 09' mako since winter and I still can't get enough of it!
When conditions are less than perfect...this is when this board makes the session.
Could be a rough sea state, flukey winds or a currrent with the wind.
The mako 150 x 40 takes quick command of any type of terrain you throw it into and
lets you feel like the some Silver Surfer-like dude.
Upwind...no sweat. Down wind...super easy and as fast as you can handle it.
Its my perfect wave hunter in puget sound for sure, where we get these short period steep faced wind waves in a good blow.
The mako smooths that chaotic terrain at all points of sail.
Just the right amount of everything so that my body and the board become one when we ride.
I lean into that high g turn thinking about the exit and not the turn,
because the mako always holds that edge when you set it.
Dang near touch your nose to the water turning this thing cause it can lay out like a big fat water ski.
A big fat offshore racing ski turn with as much speed as you can handle-
...upwind hard into that wave or piece of wind driven chop.
Time it so that you send the kite at that blissful moment of release from gravity, with all that speed and lift you are in for some glide time.
Those times when the water goes silent beneath you...and you are free from earths bounds.
The concave, foam core and sweet pads seem to smooth out the landings no matter how harsh it gets, lets me ride longer and harder.
If you are an x-treme cruiser, come from windsurfing or surf, this big mako is going to be the best hull you've ever stepped on. 10 times better than you favorite ride, the rocker line is that sweet. Rail to rail transitions and switching stance is so easy with the single fin,
you have a lot of options all the time with this design.
The Mako 150 x 40- Great range, speed, turning, upwind, wave riding and glide time.
One my favorite all time boards!
