That's a bit harsh. Espepcially since almost every inflatable manufacturer (and foil makers like F1, Flexifoil) have ripped off Naish design and business initiatives.

OK, they didn't invent the inflatable - but they showed the initiative to refine it, make it higher aspect and market it as a 4-line tool for kitesurfing. The Wipika (wing) was for kitesurfing, but also for boats, kyaks etc.

Love em or hate them, but in my view - Naish are responsible for the sport of kitesurfing as we know it. Most foil flyers where I live have never progressed past the park, and probably never will.

Well, wipika(the brothers I mean) had high-aspect kites and 4-line kites earlier than naish, they just thought the market was not yet ready for it. Naish thought otherwise and was proven right, but the Legaignoux bros had AR6 kites before Naish had heard of them ;-)

True.. but Naish brought the sport to the masses.Kitesurfing wasn't seen as cool until Flash "Air" Austin and the kite beach crew showed what could be done with sub 190cm boards.Prior to that kitesurfing was seen as an oddity. The Naish influence gave it credibility.

Credit for reading the market better than anyone else, and improving the product two fold.AR3 kites held the sport back..hail the AR5!!!! :thumb:

You say kiterich's comment is harsh and then you sign off by slagging anyone that chooses not to ride tubes. Nice.

Why naish produce foils?

Postby tux » Wed Apr 16, 2003 3:41 pm

Why naish produce foils?
You might find an answer in those Don Montague words:
''...if we are talking about sellout volume kitesurf just surpassed windsurf, and kite will go on growing. This winter we have seen a lot of of movement in the snow....and snow will be much larger than kiteboarding could ever be.''

I think naish couldn't let this big part of the turt to other.
Don't you?
