If you are not getting height can be for numerous reasons like:

- sending the kite from too high
- sending the kite too slow
- looking at the kite while sending it and so losing your edge
- Going too slow. The faster you go, the higher you jump. If you start edging too hard and too soon, you kill the speed, edge at the very last moment to resist against the kite.
- not having enough resistance with your board and body when kite is over your head

Basically the harder you send the kite without looking at it, and the lower you send it from, and the faster you go before sending it the more height you get, but dont forget to edge really hard and resist with your board rather than "helping" the kite with your legs by doing a small hop, do this at the very last moment when kite is about to reach 12 oclock. Resist in the last moment and edge with your board as if your life depends on it, until the kite wins and rips you from the water.

Hope it helps, i know its a bunch of things to keep in mind but they will all come into place soon. Practice makes perfection ;)

PS Another tip is jump using a wave as a ramp, if you send the kite back right in time with the wave, prepare to go real high, but thats a bit of "cheating" about the right technique (though you still need good technique), but a lot of fun and really a good way to get that much more height ;)

Hi,
It really helps if you can practise jumping in flat water. Much easier to do everything right if you do not have to deal with waves/chop in the same time. When you have the technique right, you will get the highest jumps using the wave as a ramp as speedyrider allready mentioned.
Greetings,
Jaros

I found the easiest way to jump high is to ride a small kite, powered up. Make sure you feel confident flying the kite during the jump, cause you go up fast and come down fast with a small kite. Need to learn to feather the landings with small kites on big jumps. Ouch I learned the hard way.....can't just float down under it like a 16m. LOL

ps Also I found that 133x 40 is the best for going huge. My 135x43 just doesnt seem to allow me to rocket of the water, when I rode them back to back.

On an SLE, don't sheet out too far when you send the kite. It travels faster but you lose grunt. I usually keep the bar out slightly when I send, then sheet all the way in when I jump.

Just go fast and aim for any wave that's 3 feet or higher. Send the kite just before you leave the kite and you can't go anything but high.

Do you sheet in when the kit hits 12 or do you sheet in once you have left the water?

I usually sheet in partly when it gets close to 12 and as soon as I feel the pull starting, I pop and sheet in fully. Often I let the kite reach 2 before I start pulling it forwards again. It depends on how fast I'm going. But when it comes to wave boosting, it's just a matter of hitting the kicker and 11-12 at the same time and pull in fully. Instead of just going out and jumping, think about what the kite is doing. I think what most people learning to jump high don't do is correct the kite after lift off. If you are jumping to the right and just send the kite you won't go as high as you want. After you leave the water you must correct the kite by pulling just a little on you front hand to get it to turn just barely the direction you are moving yet keeping it facing the wind. (hard to explain but hav a few pics of me a 1 shows)
