North Rhino 12m - Projected Area??

HI guys,

Can anyone CONFIRM the exact projected area of the North Rhino 12m for me? The North manual and some website say 'Projected Area = 6.8', whereas other good sources such as Kitesurf Magazine (International) states 'Projected Area = 8.8'. Which one is correct?

The reason I need to know is that I'm looking for a smaller, higher wind kite. Seen a good price on the new Gaastra 7.5 G-Spot which looks interesting, but also considering a used ARX 7.5 or something similar. If anyone has any good suggestions for a suitable high wind kite(18-27mph) to go with my 12m Rhino, please let me know.

(If needed, I'm 84kg, and use an Olry 186 and a Slingshot Darke 147)

You can't trust projected area numbers. Everybody measures different. Why not stick with North? The 8m Toro would be perfect and it would fly like your Rhino, only better.

I fully agree, trust only the surface area (IMO), too many brands have different numbers for their projected area.
If you already fly North stick with it.
The Toro 8 is really a good choice for high winds. Don't get anything smaller - too fast and winds will be too dangerous.

OK, thanks for those opinions.

I have considered the 8m Toro, but I'm tempted by the 7.5 or 10m Gaastra G-Spot, not only because I've found a very cheap deal (and I don't have much money at the moment) but the few reviews I have seen have been good, relaunchability is good, new leash system is used (as per the X2 I believe) and it's a bit different.

Any views?

Stace, cheap doesn't mean good.
Why is something cheap? Because they want to sell it!
So try to get some more reviews on it, before you go for it, to make sure it flies and you won't be dissapointed because it was cheap.
