X3, Anyone else fly this yet?

Postby Stefan » Sun Apr 20, 2003 5:28 pm

I flew the 12 X3 couple days ago, wondering if anyone else has had a chance yet to sail this kite and impressions. I'm reserving my opinions until I have a couple more days on it.

I also need a day more to get more used to it in lighter winds.

Will let you know within the next days!

I ordered my 8m X-3 and while I know its for those howling days, I want to know if I need to order a 10 X-3 and sell my crapinha 10 :) So hurry up and give me your opinions I can't wait!

Hmmmm. Very interesting. 3 riders have ridden this kite and yet none of them wish to share their opinions yet.

I think if they were super stoked they would not be able to refrain from posting about it. It sounds like some disappointment to me. Of course we expect you boys to all say nice things now after this post.

3 riders. Several days. Still no feeback. I will give you guys credit for one thing. You seem to follow the golden rule of - If you have nothing nice to say then it's best to say nothing at all.

Keep us posted.

We've seen a few X3's out here the last weeks.

They have the struts built into the fronttube very rigid/strong (so rigid that it is difficult to avoid the kites sliding down the beach...).

Apart from that, it seems to be an X2.

But lets hear more from the riders - And I dont fully agree that no news is not good news - it might have been too little or too much wind, but they have been out trying their new kites anyway, because they cant wait (who can, with a new kite...)

But seriously - there are not really any 2003 kites who makes "quantum" leaps in performance - it is all about small perfections now.

johnny,

sadly enough, i'm focussed on riding the x10 right now ;)

i had two runs on the x3 so far.
16m in light winds.
the handling felt smoother than the x2, the power came delivered softer, but the low end grunt was way better than on the big x2 sizes.

12m in super gusty winds:
the handling felt really really good, i liked it a lot more than the x2.
but i don't like the 12m x2 that much (just a personal opinion).
kite turns fast, reacts good to the boardedge and has heaps of power.

the three middle struts are connected really tight to tle leading edge.
the velcros are improved and the kite has a pump-leash.
the line connectors look a lot nicer, it's male connectors for the frontlines and female connectors for the backlines.

these are some rough impressions after two short sessions.
i didn't have time/wind for more (i don't know about the other guys, but that's how it looks here)
