Light wind riding

Just wondering who uses currents when picking a spot to ride in light wind. I know that I do. We have some great spots that pull like a convayerbelt. I use a 16m 08 havoc with a 135 blunt. I get going in 8 knots just like the company states, but I need current. I am 205 lbs.

One friend kinda hates on me. He says why do I need depower with a lightwind kite. My answer is what if the wind picks up. I love this kite in 8 - 15 knots. Its scary how much I am flying this 16, I can't believe how many sessions It kept my 13m ozone sport on the beach. So happy to have this big size in the trunk.

Also I think that Light wind riding really dials in skills, more so than being powered up. Lets face it riding powered up is pretty easy, its when the wind is light that ineffecient riding really shows.

Does normal light wind talk take in account for spots with crazy currents?

Not for me I ride on lakes... Very little current in there. 190 my Evo 15m with my 150x48 Rogue wave Fat Bastard gats me going in about 8 knots, but keeps me going in less than that as long as the 5 knot lull does not last too long or I will have to head downwind and play with the kite like mad. Otherwise 10 knots is the cutoff for comfort. Yep, light wind is much better to practice your skills I am a beginner and Light wind sessions make me much better at feeling things when I sail in 15-25 range.
