Please help on which kite in 18M size is best for 12-16 mph range on a TT 161 to get going upwind without having to work the kite a great deal... thinking medium aspect but one with a lot of grunt so it can be parked and just ridden. Not looking for big airs yet... I am 205.

ID go with the Naish Areo if you really want a medium.
Personally, I weigh 214 and am patiently awaiting my X2 18m. Until then I get by with some takoons (don't recomend) and Airblasts.
I've found sucess switching to a wider board when the wind is questionable. For light wind I ride a TwinTip(
http://www.twintip.com) BAT 164 and a Naish 5'3" Twin.
The winder board looks kind of silly and I picked it up as an experiment in Maui. But being a bigger guy it really gets me going quick in teh unpredictable wind of the Northeast.

somewhere I read that the Toro will come in 18 sqm. If you want medium aspect this should be a choice.
If you can test the big kites before you buy it, there can be difference.
Good luck!

The 22.5 Rhino is what you need. Unfortunately you can't get one in the US. The distributor is sold out until the 2003's arrive in September/October. North kites have strong grunt without sine flying. The 20m Aero might be another good choice. I would stay away from Cabrinha. They don't fly as good as the other 2002 kites. They wobble a lot when flown very powered. I don't think they have good low end power either. The big Air Rush has poor low end too. I think the 20m Aero might be the only good choice.

x2 20 or aero 20... x2 if you can handle a high ar kite, aero if you still crash kites a lot...

since you need a 5th line anyway for this size of kites, you also can go for high AR, since it should be faster=more fun
