I find that I ride in the straps 70% of the time. My personal straps have even less internal structure than the stock Cabs. This allows the strap to twins, conform, and better yet be stepped on.

Many people feel that if there are straps on the board then you HAVE to be in them. Just a mental block....

??? The front strap almost always has a very unique position on any true waveboard, so being out of these, means you dont use the "perfect" point at all :(

But regarding the rear strap - very true - you could in fact remove it, as you just as often want to be in front or rear of it, yes :thumb:

You are correct in the statement that the front foot position is critical. What I mean is that the straps need to be soft enough that you can stand on top of them with out too much interference.

I dont agree personally on this one...

I would NEVER feel good, when standing on a strap :o
Even if it was just a tiny plug edge or "anything" I could feel with my feet, I would simply HATE it, and it would not feel right for me :(

Maybe I am a bit sensitive, I dont know - but it has to feel perfect and no annoying small things.

So thats why I like straps that adapt to your foot, but still very well formed so they can not collapse.
Very important to be able to slip into the straps extremely fast and without thinking or looking down of course - so "soft" straps is a "no-go" IMO.

What is really important though, is just in front of the rear strap - where there has to be very "soft" and clean and no schrew heads or bulky things, as you will very often place your foot here, both when going upwind (more than 50% of the hours you are out), but also when riding waves or tubes especially.

Personal preference, I know.

If you have firewires, the new FP boards ,

no need to use trainer wheels on such great sticks as straps will only limit the potential to ride in the pocket.

Wax and go

How about these?

The Mystic G-Straps have worked incredibly well for us the past 3 years.
The only problem is that they are very hard to find right now, since they didn't get produced this year.

The reason why we like them so much is that they are very soft and padded, and they twist together with your foot, while the edges are padded and they won't hurt you. They are adjustable, although at times it's hard to adjust the cord.

We should be able to get another run of these straps by March 2010, but for right now we don't have any left unfortunately.....

Totally Disagree,

If you read the orginal question the straps are for a new firewire board, my point is that STRAPS will only limit the boards ability to perform. Firewire boards are best rode without belts.

Hi Drew,

You're probably right about the FireWire stuff, but please don't use a pejorative formula about surfstrapped riding, as both "strapped" and "strapless" have their own place when it comes to riding with a surf.

Uride2 is asking a fairly simple question (see the Thread title)... but :
1- You didn't provide any useful information about the original question
2- You prefered to post a reply with a pic of you guys posing like super heroes of strapless :lame1:
so IMHO it is still :offtopic:

By the way, would love to kite in Korea :jump:

Whish you an happy new year and lot of wind and waves :thumb:
