I got offered a ARX 15.5 for a good price, but I'm not sure if it is a good choice.
I'm going to kite only in light winds, since I will windsurf in strong winds. I'm 1,90 and weight around 100 kg.

I have a small ARX 9.5 since a year, and I am happy with it; but I would not recommend you to buy it. It could be risky: some ARXs are badly sewn or have low quality materials (like it also happened to many 2001 airblasts).
The 2002 kites are much better, huge differences in durability, materials and performance: AERO, X2, WIPIKA AIRBLAST, AIRUSH, ETC.

Buy one of those.

Regards,

Greg

that is correct.
I have an ARX 15.5 and don't use it anymore, since I always used my X2 12.0, because it was way faster.
The 16.0 wasn't available but now I have one.
I couldn't try it yet but I'm pretty sure that is will a lot faster than last years ARX 15.5. You will have more fun with a 2002 kite, as Greg mentioned as well.

I think the most wise thing to do is to wait for the 2004 kites, they will be better than the 2003 models which are better than this years´ models. I have heard a rumour that the original ArX is going to make a comeback in 2006 so if I were you, I would buy the ArX...

I have an 11.5m ARX... real good kite, can get going in 10 knots and hold just over 20. It is a tad slow at times compared to my 7.5m AR5 but this can be an advantage when trying tricks... so if the 11.5 is slow compared to the 7.5, then the 15.5 will be slow compared to the 11.5m....

Best off getting a 2002 kite like the Naish X2 16m and as the newer kites are more durable it'll last you a lot longer and save you money in the long run...

if you're 100kg, by the time you can get going on a 15.5 ARX the wind will be at least 15 knots, and you will go to over 25 knots..the kite won't be slow at those windspeeds....

compared to others it will be slow!
but I used 20 m lines with it and then it was fun with the 15.5.
Shorter lines will do, but then you need a bit more wind.
