Western Australia Kitesurf Road Trip

12/09/09 - 22/09/09

Carnarvon

On the 12th of September the Elemental Crew headed up to the North West of Australia. Our first stop was Carnarvon. Famous for its fresh produce and huge satellite dish which dominates the landscape, still stands as a reminder of days gone by when Carnarvon participated in the space race to put man on the moon in 1966. Its also famous for its uncrowded flatwater spots. We had two incredible days of windy flat water kiteboarding sessions as an entree before hitting Exmouth for the main event.

Exmouth & Ningaloo Reef

Exmouth and the Ningaloo reef. Fishing paradise, kitesurfing wet dreams and of course the famous surf. This region is by far one of my favourite spots on the planet. Only a 14 hr drive from Perth with plenty of fun stop offs along the way. It was our Pre-season Blow-out! We got to hang out with the turtles and enjoyed 13 out of 14 days of glorious wind, spectacular mornings with decent surf, we even had a few Stand up paddle expeditions.

Daniel & Alison from Kite Addiction accompanied us and let us play with all the new toys from 2010 range of kites and kiteboards from Cabrinha Naish and Gaastra.

Turquoise Bay

Turquoise Bay made a highlight for most of us with a drift snorkel past some amazing reef and coral. John got cross examined by a decent sized reef shark while Kylie had a close encounter with a friendly Turtle.

When It was time to depart some drove south home, while others took the road unknown in search of big waves. Wouter and I tagged along for a while through some exciting 4WD sand duning. We deicded to head back to Carnarvon where we just couldnt help but indulge ourselves with 3 more days of flat water. Morning Easterlies made it perfect for some land boarding. Gonna miss our dark chocolate dipped Sapote fruit icecreams.

It was an awesome event with a great crew. Stay tuned for the next road trip North in March/April.

Its Back to School

Winter is over and the sea-breeze is about to adjust our attitudes and blow us all into another gorgeous summer in Perth. Its that time of year again for Kiteboarding lessons! Elemental Kiteboarding have all the new 2010 kitesurfing kites and kiteboards from Cabrinha and Naish. We are ready to roll and fully equipped with the latest Coaching Helmets from Headzone.
