North Rebel 09 6m and 9m wave riding machines!

Postby Wawando » Sat Apr 04, 2009 12:59 am

Hi,

I have been riding Rebel 09 6m and 9m in the past months. I had some very powerfull sessions and low winds too it really feels so good!

At the beginning it felt like too powefull when compared to previous 2007 and 2008 year models. Then i found i was sheeting in too long when hit by a gust. It is a habit i got from my faithfull 7m 2007 Rebel that required it to ride well in very gusty wind.

The Rebel 09 6m is my new marvel kite. I ride it from VERY little wind to 35++ knots. It is fast and very responsive even when fully depowered.

The thing i most appeciate is the fact that the kites are always where they "should be", drift very, very well and the few times they hit the water, came out immediatelly.
Bar feedback, pressure, stall resistance and reaction to input is PERFECT for me.

At the beginning i was playing with 5th line length and at the end put up the production setting. So my recommendation is to leave things as they came. Just plug and play! By the way, i never close my one pump clips. Just pump and ride.

6m, 8m and 11m might be a great combo too!

I always use 20m lines and ride surf boards 90% of the time.

I rode the 6m Evo 09 and will stick to my Rebels :naughty:

See you!

I second all that for the 10M! Also got a 12M EVO but it's too much power for my 68 kg.

I ride with the 9M rebel 2008, I want to change for a 9 M rebel 2009

How do you compare the windrange of both. (high end and low end).

Merci. :bye:

Interesting...what style of riding do you have?
More 'follow the kite' or 'park & ride"..?
I found the kite 8m2 & 11m2 to have some stall when turning them in the bottom or top turn.
I'm not a park & ride type by the way.
Couldn't get used to that as it's very unpredictable so i sold them again.
Back on the Rebel 2008 again now, looking to go back to C-Shape perhaps..

My conditions are side on, so part & ride is not possible. My "style" is looping the kite on the bottom and usually turning the kite ate the lip. Sometimes i downloop at the lip when wind is weak but try not to do it so that i am able to cutback more agressivelly, floaters, etc.
I find them as really good drifters and they always respond to turn input.
What do you mean by having some stall when turning them?
I have my bar setup and depower trimmed so that i oversheet the kite a but when pull the bar until the end.
I am finding your post curious because with the 08 model i didn't get used to the soft bar pressure specially at the lowend so switched to Evo. This doesn't happen with 09 version.
