I ride an EH eze 13m and an Ovando 9m, I wand to get a smaller high wind / snow kite and I 'm indecise between the Ovando 7m and the Rippehr 9m v5 2009. Which one would you pick?

Keep in mind that here in Finland it's mainly light winds, or gusty but seldom above 30kn.
I have a light wind door / board and an eclipse 133x39.

I'm 92kg and with the Ovando 9m I ride from 14kn and around 26kn it becomes a bit hairy due to the gusts. I use the eze when I need my fix in light wind and I think it's a monster, sooo much power & constant pull!

Would an Ovando 5m is too small?

Would an Ovando 11m could compare with the eze13m?

the following are my feelings about the kites and though i believe what i say to be correct about the kites, what i say is still my own impression and not necessarily the same as someone else's . . .

first off, have a look at Eric's website . . .

you will see that he does not recommend the use of the Ovandos in 30 knot winds . . . have a read of the design parameters . . . .

also . . . the 5m Ovando is not designed for someone your weight . . .

having said that, i have both the 9m Ovando and the 7m Ovando . . . 86kg . . .

i love the 7m but am realistic about its top end . . . the kite is not designed for top end . . . it does great for me in winds up to 25 knots and maybe a knot or two more . . .

but the Ripper is more my favourite when the winds get stronger . . . .

i also have a 9m, 8m and 6m Ripper . . . the 9m Ripper is great for when the wind kicks in 20 knots + and so is the 8m . . . but when the wind sits above 25 knots, the 6m begins to really shine . . .

so what do i suggest for you . . . the Ripper as the next kite if the use is for wind approaching 30 knots with more comfort . . . for me the 7m Ripper was always a size i wished for. . . . and now there is one . . . for your weight, and winds that don't get over 30 knots, then maybe the 9m Ripper would be better . . . .

finally, just as there is quite a difference between the EZE (light bar pressure) and the Ovando, there is a difference in feel from the Ovando to the Ripper.. . .

thanks for the advice, I spoke with Eric and he recommended to keep the Eze for light winds, Ovando for medium and get a rippehr 9m for high winds.

I'll follow his advice....

or maybe a Beast 7m..?...

The Rippehr is realy good in gusty high winds mainly because it takes the hit of the gusts really well. It doesn't take the holes so well, but it takes the gusts superbly. I like my Beast 8 in the 17-25 range, but I use my Rippehr 8 in 20-30+ range.

As per Eric's instructions I shortened the rear bridle by about 8 cm.
