It's time for the 3.rd WINTER AIR SPORTS event with snowkite, paragliding and speed flying in Romania, Sinaia form 16.-21. February 2010.

This is the event info:

Between 16-21 February 2010 the third edition of WINTER AIR-Sports Festival will take place at Sinaia, Cota 2000 in 2010.

It is becoming tradition that every year in February, the festival of extreme sports including competitions and aerial demonstrations takes place at Sinaia in Romania. On the programme are extreme paragliding flights, snowkitng and speed flying.

Joining us will be special guests such as world-famous athletes which will impress the audience with their outstanding performance. Together

The Winter Air Sports festival gives us the opportunity to gather amateur and elite sportsmen & women, sporting brands & and media together on the Bucegi plateau in 2000m altitude. Together with media partners, sponsors, actively partaking sportsmen, and audience is it possible to create a successful and memorable event showing the best spirit of the various sports & true comradeship among the event participants.

Hi every winter sport lover,

I just arrived to Romania and already know how the conditions are in the Sinaia mountains. There's 1m-1,5m powder and the whole area is covered by nice fresh SNOW!

The atmosphere looks great and I will post updates about the event.

Those of you who already plan to participate in the event can look really forward, those of you who still do not know (it's definitely worth it!) and for those of you how can't come, you are lucky to have an impression about the event online.

Sunday, 21st February
Festival ending

Hi fellow kiters,

This is the update from the first day of the 3.rd edition of this event. We arrived on top on Sinaia snow resort at Cota 2000 and were welcomed by stable 15 knots. The wind kept on increasing during the evening until about 25 knots. We decided to stop about 20:15 as it got pretty dark.The snow is perfect with about 1m powder. It was possible to do (powered) tricks, enjoy your first rides, and test the newest equipment in fantastic conditions.

The wind still keeps on blowing outside and we look very much forward to tomorrow for a whole day of Winter Air Sport action!

Hi everybody,

This is the update from the second day of the event. The wind kept on blowing the whole night although it also changed direction. The conditions were not as perfect as yesterday as it was foggy the whole day with light snow fall. Nevertheless, we had about 15 knots next to our newly built bar where drinks were served and we were hanging out most of the day. We have set up flags around the bar Further down the valley the wind accellerated to about 23 knots and even though the visibility was low, about 200m, we had a nice 30 min session with jumps & powerful riding Of course, safety first!, and we always stay in touch over walkie takies and use a snowmobile for quick help & transport in case of emergency.

Marius, who arrived today was a highlight as he experienced something really sick when a person highjacked the plane he and his friend wanted to skydive from. It on news all over the world.

We look forward to tomorrow for more wind and hopefully sunshine. The forecast for Friday & Saturday looks EPIC!

Hi,

3.rd update form this event. During the morning we had very beautiful weather as you can see on some of the pictures. Though, fog, snow and low visibility quickly characterized most of the day. The wind was hauling with stable 35 knots and only 2 of use were riding for about 2 hours during midday. Unfortunately, we have very few pictures of this 'short' session as everybody else was staying inside or benefiting from the snow conditions. Later at afternoon the wind decreased to stable 18 knots and visibility improved. This resulted in many people packing out their equipment and riding

It looks like tomorrow and Saturday will be BIG days with wind and finally sunshine!

Hi,

This is the update of the fourth day of the event. Shortly, this day was FANTASTIC!

It began early about 8 O'Clock in the morning and the weather was great! Sunshine, 16 knots and about -2 degrees Early birds were riding from early morning. As the wind dropped we began to speedfly on one of the slopes. Several of us have had their first speedflying experience, as you can see on some of the photos The wind picked up a bit and it was enough for big paragliders and tandem paragliding. As wind kept on increasing we began to snowkite and we did so for about 4 hours. The conditions were absolutely great and many, really tremendously many, photos were taken. Today everything was possible: BIG AIR snowkiting, freestyle snowkiting, first steps within snowkiting & speedflying, speedflying & paragliding as well as tandem paragliding. When we stoped the wind didn't and it's again hauling outside of our windows Today it was possible to meet winter air sports practitioneers from most of Europe and a Dutch team told us about their survival expedition to Greenland where they travelled about 2500km within 32 days. Now the party is on but many of us look forward to tomorrow. The prediction for tomorrow is SUNSHINE and about 25 knots! YEAH!!!

The event was a huge success.

A lot of snowkiting, paragliding, and speed flying was done, talking and socializing were natural part of the event too 1.st price for winning race competition was a WAROO 2010 11m.
