Whats the deal with Lobitos?

Postby BrianMaiden » Tue Feb 23, 2010 2:39 am

I've just arrived in Lobitos. It's sunny, windy and there are perfect waves but.... the windy is cross off and nobody is kiting here today.

Is the point here where eveyone kites?

I'm on my own and don't want to kite alone in an offshore wind. It's frustrating because it looks so inviting. Has anyone kited at Tres Cruzes? is there anywhere else within a few km to kite where it's cross or cross-on?

you are happy there is wind!!! this time of the year there is normally no wind at all. or light at best..and lobitos is a hard place to kite on light marginal wind. It is very gusty close to shore due to the cross off conditions and the land contours. But, that is it..it is cross off. not a good place to kite solo..problems can happen fast there. Tres is close and is side shore on the point and side off closer in the bay...but easy place to kite..good soul session if you can get there. there is also cabo blanquillo. but that will have a massive shore pound right now depending on the swell direction. but it is more north of where you are at..and every KM you go north this time of the year means less and less wind.

have fun. be careful..please respect the surfers at lobitos and any other place you kite there in north peru.

Guys,

I was thinking of hitting Northern Peru in the second half of December.
From what I can read wind/wave season ends in October though
Should I wait for next year or will have still have decent conditions ?

Thanks

Just dont drop your kite, Lobitos is the shizzle, dizzle go get you some. Stay away from the surfers, ride the peak in front of the house on the hill. :cool2:
