Hasn't indeed been great here the last week, although the master of the ocean contest on saturday had good wind and waves.
Tradewinds should be coming back in a few days as well, but for this time of the year it's always smart to bring a bigger kite ( and a surfboard maybe, the surf has been very good this winter)

I'll be there thursday for 4 days and the outlook isn't good. Especially for the typical easterly trade winds they get. Was in Cabarete for 7 days during christmas and only had 2 kiteable days. I'm a little bummed but keeping hope that I'll get at least a day in! If not there is surfing to be had and I've been told a whole crew of Norwegian girls just got there so that ain't so bad!!

Thanks for the insight , Here on cape cod , 50 knt winds last night, and it's been like that too most of the winter, rainy, raw , miserable . I'll leave my 8 behind, although it's my most favorite kite. It seems like the worst of the winter is over now, no more ice choked harbors

Wind and rain patterns are indeed strange this year in cabarete, however today we had a superb day of kiting, sunny and around 18-20 knots wind and some nice shoulder high waves on the reef. The next few days should bring little wind I am afraid, but nice waves, then in 4-5 days the forecast shows 'normal' winds; between 15-20 knots.
For may, check windguru's archive function, might be very helpful.

I’ve checked all the stats....; I was hoping to hear some local opinions, thanks for the "tip"!

That's exactly the same the local guys said when I was there last year.
Cheers
