Innovative little pump looks like it might be suitable for LEI's...

I couldn't imagine using it for a kite I could have inflated that matress in 1/2 that with a standard double action pump :thumb:

Hmm if the specs are correct- And that litle bastard pump delivers 560l/min
you need too pump the standard doble action pump fast -

Like up and down 140 times a minute.
Thats 2.33 times a sec......

Good luck - i would like to see that ...

edit:

I timed the pumping matress - almost one minute .

I guess the matress is about 195cm x 75cm x 20 cm(78"x30"x8")

So that means that he pumped about292,5l/ min

Then you need to pump up and down with a standard pump
1.22 / sec-
That is possible - :thumb:

Looks like someone has tried it on a kite and it broke after 2 minutes. It couldn't handle the back pressure when topping off the kite. He was able to fix it and it is usable again but not for a kite. I suppose sand would be an issue too.

It is hard to improve on the standard hand pump.

Anybody tried the "Lord of the Dance" foot pump? :o

Totally disagree. The standard pump is the most non ergonomic piece of gear imaginable. Repeatedly grind your lumbar spine as the first order of business! You only have so many of those crunches in a lifetime, I'd rather not waste em on pumping. Alternatives are pretty simple. I just duct tapped a 1x2x30" piece of wood with a foot peg onto a pump with a broken foot peg and its simple inflation from a comfortable standing position. Am I the only one thinking there is a better pump option? I'd try this one out. From the specs it should be faster than what we use and easier. Says on the site it goes to 120psi. Cant see back pressure from a kite being much of an issue. Also mentions use in sand being no problem as there is a filter. if the cord holds up, could be good.

The 80psi and 120psi pumps are their bicycle pumps the "Rapid" and the "+Plus" (high pressure /low volume) not their "Inflator" pump (which is low pressure /high volume).

I contacted them to see if they had a 2 stage pump in the works (low pressure /high volume to fill then switch to high pressure /low volume to top off). They said "no". So you would still need your trusty kite pump to top off when using the "Inflator".

I would be worried about the sand getting into the strap mechanism.

Hey,have anyone tried a leg pump for inflating a kite?
How was that?

If not, what will you want to see in it?

Thanks

Liquid Force has an extended handle pump now that comes with their big NRG kites. Let's you stay standing and works pretty nicely. Hopefully other companies will come up with similar solutions.
