Consider this to be a very informal survey. There is a 2009 to 2010 IDS Control System upgrade kit that can be available based on the feedback that this thread receives. Keep in mind two important things:
1/ Retail price of the kit will be $230
2/ Kit will be available early July 2010
Considering nos. 1 and 2 above, is this a product that 2009 Cabrinha customers are interested in buying? Thanks in advance for your consideration and replies.

I was... until I saw the price.
Probably better to get a used 2010 bar and then get the upgrade kit, cost-wise.

Can you confirm what the upgrade kit to the bar would consist of ? I would have to agree that I would not upgrade my bar if its just for the sleeving and new chickenloop. I have more interest in upgrading to the Pro version of the IDS and to the 2010 pulley system, however I havnt forked over the cash to do those upgrades yet either. Thanks for the poll, its nice to have some input

I wouldn't buy it at that price. You might be able to sell the new powerline and stopper kit without the chickenloop and swivel. I also find that I can wind the kitelines OK if I turn the bar back to front and figure 8 the lines.
I have the 2009 10 & 13 Xbows, and bought a couple of Nobile 2008 4 line bars for £159 each, which basically do everything the 2010 bar does. The only change I needed was to retie the knots on the powerline to extend the bar throw within a couple of cm of the Cabrinha throw. I have a 7m 555 and a 9m Omega, so the bars have other uses too. Because I can change the bar length, I could also use the same bar for the 10 and 13.

My initial thought is no, although I am not sure what is included in the kit. My guess is everything except the main lines and bar, or is the bar included?
For that price, I may as well sell my old 2009 kite and upgrade, or wait for the 2011 gear (given that summer is almost over here).

why would you want to upgrade a 09 bar to the 2010 model anyway
the 2010 model sucks big time.
the stapper ball is crap and the depower straps break everytime you go out.
you should sell another manufacturers bar and lines and call that an upgrade kit.

For that price, no.
Pulley upgrade, maybe. But O rings from West Marine may even beat that..
You guys should stop sending Dre and Susi across the globe and lower your costs, focus on your bar and control system, and get back to customer service and support.

I tend to give Cabrinha credit for the things they do right - which is most things.
I think they do need to rethink the bar. For sure, get rid of the soft bar ends and make a bar that covers most of the kite range (except maybe the very small kites). They sould conside whether they can make the bar more generic, so you can replace worn out parts by going to a chandler.

Ronnie,
Give the 2010 bar a go if you have a chance. You will see that there are many changes to the 2010 bar and real nice upgrade all round from the 2009 bar. The 2010 has soft bar ends however they have been modified and are a major improvement over the 2009 bar ends.
