Best Kiteboard for choppy, little Waves and Freestyle

Postby esganmoro » Tue Apr 06, 2010 8:57 pm

Hi, I´ve tried the RRD Poison 133x42 and now using Slingshot Lunacy 135x43 2010. But this seems to be too flat (no rocker) and rigid, so in choppy conditions i´ve all the water on my face. I weight 90kgs, but with this board and my wainman smoke i start from 14knots to 30+. So i´m looking for a big board, not a light wind board.
I´m interested on wainman blunts, liquid force recoils and nobile hps. What do you guys think?
THANKS!

I rode the LF Influence last week and liked it in choppy water. got enormous flex and for me it seems perfect for little waves and freestyle. check out this video

you should try and demo it if you get the chance!

Yeah, thats for sure. but i live in argentina, so i can´t try or demo any board. i can only seach it on the net and order. Here we only can find some RRDs, Slingshots and Cabrinha Customs. Thats why i posted this message to get some reviews. Tks.-

I just got a 09 recoil 133 (not the comp) and have about 4hrs of riding on it so far.

I'm 65kg, intermediate rider and I spent the previous two summers riding the LF proof mostly and another slightly smaller beginner board. Transitioning to the recoil was painless though, took an hour or so to get comfy.

The conditions I was in was light chop. There's quite a bit of splash in the face, especially going up wind. It's pretty fast and easy to hold edge on toeside which I really like. I can edge it real good. It's actually a big enough board for me cause I can use it in real light winds, 10kts I can just stay up wind with it using a12m kite. I don't know if it's that fast, doesn't seem to be. Need more time on it I guess. There's plenty of rocker on it maybe that's part of the speed thing.

I'm pretty happy with it but the splash thing is annoying. Maybe I can reduce that in time by adjusting my stance a bit.

I'll add more as the season progresses, for what it's worth :)

I'm looking too for a board that it's very good in chop. So far, the best that I have tried is the Hammer from Airush but they don't make it anymore.

Try Mako 150

I really love this board, my favorite of any board I have ever used by quite some margin. I haven't used any of the other sizes but have heard good things about them as well. The mako does seem to do a really good job of cutting through chop and it is a very carve-y board, making it good for playing on small waves (and probably big waves for that matter, but I haven't tried it). It is a quite good jumping board as well. It is acceptable in light winds but really shines in medium and strong winds (paired with a 7m atom, I have been in gusts over 50 knots, scary but do-able). The only draw backs I can think of are price (but I got it used for cheap), length (it is not a great length for traveling with, and if you do a lot of aerial tricks that involve rotating the length may slow you down), and the fact that the extreme rocker can lead to some pretty wicked face plants until you get used to the board. If you get a chance to demo one give it a go, or just have some faith in the dozens (hundreds?) of glowing reviews on this and other forums, it really is a fun board.

Hands down the best chopkiller ever made is the Aboards Zseries.

Very comfy and great performance.

I have had a bad knee for years, and the Zseries is the most suited for me to have fun and to be able to have fun and do some hooked and unhooked tricks.

I'm going to loop aigain, something I taught would be impossible.. :thumb:

Here is a review from 2008, but the pads and straps have improved very much :D

Another thumbs-up for the Hammer. Super smooth in chop.
