NO, it is not !!!!!!
It was forbidden by the government and than it automatically becomes a problem of each Kanton.

Some of the Kantons already allow kitesurfing. In the west in the direction of France you can go kiting on nearly every lake, like Lac Leman, Lac Neuchatel,... and in the direction of South like Thuner See, Brienzer See. But there are some rules that you have to look at bevore you go.

You may not use lines longer than 25 meters and you have to stay away from the shore and from bathing spots. So you see its hard to kite in Switzerland. Normaly if you do everything legal, you have to swimm to the middle of the lake, inflate your kite, launch it and go kiting. The same procedure in opposite direction if you stop.

There are some Lakes where it is still strictly forbidden, like Vierwaldstättersee, Walensee, Murtensee,... I got an email-adress somewhere where you can have a look at all the lakes that are allowed to kite on. When I find it I will offer to this forum.

But the conditions are seldom good for kiting here and most people I know take a short trip to Italia (Lago di Como).

What is famous here is Lake Silvaplana.

But more in Winter for kiteboarding.
But it is a long way far away from the highways to go there.

I hope there will be a lot of snow this winter and then you can see me kiteboarding in the fields of my testing area. So if you visit Switzerland to go skiing, and see a crazy guy with a kite near the highway No.1 in the region of Bern, it will shurely be me.

Greetings

Manfred

I heard that Sylvaplana is great for snowkiting on ice (don't jump too high, because when you come down the ice can break!)

Hai Murdoc,Hai Toby,

!!!!!!!!!!COOL DOWN !!!!!!!!!

Anyway the ice on silvaplane is as thick as they drive along with Horse-wagons.

Try to calculate the impulse and the depending drop-hight you need to break this ice and then let me know your results.

If you are so hot to jump over the highway, this is an invitation for both of you to come to Switzerland. I will tell you when the snow is good enough. You just have to do the trip. Its up to you !!
The fields of my training airea, sorry area, are ultrawide. There is enough space to perform some races.

Regards

Manfred
