Dumb newby questions

Postby 2tall » Sun Apr 25, 2010 9:26 pm

Hey guys...awesome forum...I've read most of the threads and done a bunch of research.

Ready to build my first board :o ...kiting for awhile, and just not perfectly happy w/production boards, plus it just sounds great to rip on something you made.

Planning on using foam core at first:

1. Do you lay up the fabric and epoxy on just one side at a time...can't tell from pics/videos, or do you do both sides at the same time and vacuum bag on the rocker table?

2. Do you bond the ABS rails to the foam before glassing? What do you use to bond the ABS to the foam?

Thanks for the help...I'm sure I'll have more questions down the road.

I think you have to flame the rails before puting them on with a torch or they won't bond fully. Lightly heat them with a torch.

Thanks...I've looked at that site for great info. A couple questions still...

1. He wasn't vacuum bagging, and I am still curious to know if you lay up one side at a time when vacuum bagging?

2. He uses PVC for rail instead of ABS, does that change the technique?j

Thanks again for the help...about ready to build the first board.
