Is that what a typical race course looks like? Can you get upwind to the bouy in one tack on the first leg?

That looks like fun! The Underground production race board was designed by Mike Zajicek of Mike's Lab boards, who builds boards for Chip Wasson- Last years 2nd place finisher at the Kiteboard Worlds in SFO, Johnny Heineken and myself. I have tested the proto with Chip and it is a very friendly board to ride.

Kite Race Series – 6 June Report.
Hello friends,
Last Sunday we had very good conditions for racing!
Wind was most of the day around 15-16 knots and 6 Racer showed up for some action..
We immediately prepare 2 heat of 3 Racer each.
On the first heat were:
- Rob from Australia (Racer name – Robocop)
- Kadek from Bali (Racer name – Terminator)
- Ketut from Bali (Racer name – Captain)

It was the first time for Rob on a Race board but he had some time to get use to it.
At the start Kadek took the lead follow by Rob and Ketut went for the mangroves…..

At the first buoy Rob close on Kadek and on the leg to the tower he even pass him!
At the Jibe was neck to neck and so all the way to the finish line..
Ketut!!!! Was far back…

Winner was Kadek with Rob just 20 meters behind.

On the Second heat were:
- Giancarlo from Italy (Racer name – Krankie)
- Komang from Bali (Racer name – Racer)
- Wayan from Bali Racer name – Frog)

The start was very good and we were all close each other I took an early lead follow by Komang and Wayan…………….. And then just half way to the first mark a $^&%&* seaweed make me lost the edge and I felt..

At the first buoy Komang was easily first, Wayan second I was third by coming back..
The second leg to the tower was my master piece and I took over Wayan!!! But Komang was long gone with a 100 meters advantage…
I was able to hold my advantage to Wayan till the end..

Winner was Komang with 100 meters advantage follow by me and Wayan about 30 meters behind.

I was very exhausted but was time for the showdown to see who had to go to the final..
Me or Rob the 2 best seconds…

As we were both very tired with opted for a short race just to the first buoy, Jibe and return.. Good start for both if us and I took an early lead, I jibed fist without falling and Rob was about 30 meters behind on the return leg….

Then Rob pushed the TURBO button on the downwind leg and start to get closer and closer… I can feel his breath on my neck…. He was upwind and I was loosing but then!!!!
Just 300 meters from the finish line was his time to catch on some $%%*&^ seaweed..
He got stuck and I cruise to the finish line in solitary!

Time for the final but Komang and Kadek were very busy with lessons…
We decide for a new course direct to the tower and back to make it faster and easier..

It was a bit messy and I had a bad start..
Can’t really comment on what was going on as everyone took different ways..
After few minutes I was totally exhausted and couldn’t keep up.. I retired..

The winner for this week was again Komang followed by Kadek…

For next week I got my new Ozone Edge racing kite and will see if I can win at least one!!

Remember Sunday 13 of June Action is in the morning as afternoon is low tide…
Skipper meeting at 10:00 with first possible race at 11:00. Last possible race at 14:00.

See you on Sunday.
Bye Jankie
