hello everybody , as been new to the field , i have some questions about the use of honeycomb as core material 1) has enyone ever used honeycomb ( paper ,glass ) as core material? 2) if so, how it behaves ,flex , what should i be aware of , any lings ? 3) any other core material sugestions thanks in advance
Honeycomb has been used and has good characteristics but has some difficulties for small scale. Its is more difficult to shape for one. Secondly you just cannot lay cloth to it and wet out like you can on a foam core.
My suggestion is to use 5 to 6lb density foam core like corecell. Also quite common is to use wood strips built up like a snowboard core. Lots of option easier than honeycomb.
I have a core I made of birch plywood, with about 500 holes in it. It took half a day and 2 router bits to cut, and it's far from perfect. I think it is better to use lighter wood or foam.... ...maybe....
