Hey. It's an 8m Raven III using 24m lines in about 30+knots, close to the top of its wind range.

Since then I've bought a 20m line set which should get the kite a little lower but not had the chance to use them yet. Wind has been crap recently!

Is there a quick tip to acheive high lift with large (and slow) kites ??
I tend to loose the edge before lift off when attempting to go big.

With smalll kites and realy high wind, on flat water and with nice ramps in the surf to boost from this is not an issue

Unfortunately (IMO) - NO

Jump height and wind strenght are very dependant.... I'll explain in theory in another thread, for those interested viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2364902&p=655264#p655264

But it is all about technique - using as small and turnable kite as possible, without losing speed, and making the timing perfect.

As you might have seen, some can jump incredibly high with big kites, why others sucks, eventhough they can with smaller kites.

All about the fine balance speed, edging, depower/power, pop, and the stroke

Will simply take a lot of time till it happens IMO, no "shortcuts"

What is the accuracy of the shadowbox ?

I've surfed the specs numerous times, wihthout finding anything about it

And display/memory resolution and accuracy is NOT the same...

Has also written directly to the shadowbox founders, but never gotten any reply

As an engineer this is by far the interesting point.

Not only what the claimed accuracy is, but how it is validated ?

(sorry if I seem a bit nit-picking, but this is my job also, working with calibrations and accuracy and measurements and approvals)

PS: I am not downing the results - just curious about the shadowbox accuracy and how it is verified and not just a simple/easy statement.

I suggested this before.

If someone tied a Shadowbox and a lead weight on the end of some kiteline and stood on say a 10m diving board at an outside pool. Then start swinging the lead weight around your head with maybe 5' of line, and gradually lengthen it to maybe 10' or 15', while gradually getting it more vertical. If you could get it to rotate vertically, you could then measure the length of the line and check if the Shadowbox was recording a 'jump' of twice (the line length + the length of the person's arm).
