Good idea. You may need to split up, for example, the Kitesurfing forum into sub directories also as it becomes more popular.

eg. News, Equipment, Technique, Spots etc.
This will help save fairly recent threads from getting lost in the archives too soon.

To split up the individual forums is the next step, when it gets more popular.
You are correct in saying to split it up in different forums if it becomes too crowed and postings will be in the archive too soon.
How we'll split it is not clear it.
If we are at the point of splitting further, we will ask all users to send us their opinion in how to split it.
