How does the RPM stack up....

Postby bavdrftr318 » Mon Jul 12, 2010 5:41 pm

I have switched from a Naish cult 08 to a RPM 09 and I definitely notice that the RPM is much better for kiteloops and powered stuff. One thing that I can't grasp is how well it boosts compared to the 2008 cults. I havn't had much time on the kite so I can't decide if my timing isn't just right yet or that it doesn't boost as high... any inputs for guys that have ridden either kite?

Simple answer is that it's different from others...takes a couple of sessions to suss out the timing and then it's good...not the best but pretty good.
I think it was Ali Barrett who said it took him a fair while to dial into the timing on the RPM.
It's there...just need to find it.

Yeah, the 10m I had was on 20" bar and 23m lines and was good like that.
I use 23m lines on my vapors....seems about right for the average rider :thumb:

I still can't figure out if this thing can boost well or not... Anyone else with personal experience with multiple kites could possibly chime in?

boost well = jumps really high ?? if it that what it means, hell YES

you can jump really high on RPMs, i have done it on my 12 m, and on my 8 m as well,

my modest tip ,i can give you, comparing to other kites i have used ( waroos and naish boxer SLE)
is to keep your edge longer when sending it, and then, at the very last instant, when you feel you
are gonna be ripped of the water, cut with your board with a good extra load on your back foot!!
(but ....this is what is needed to boost high with any kite, isn`t it ? )

  , not sure, but this what i try to do, when the choppy doesn`t bother me in keeping the edge
and doing a good clean cut, i can boost high! :D

as the owner of the kite mentioned above (exact owner :) ) the kite does jump super well on that setup...

I have used the kite from 15-30knots and each time I go on it i get more and more out of it...

It really does excel on kiteloops as the kite even at low height will get back above you for a soft landing (that isn't a given as sometimes I get my ass handed to me)

all in all I think it has to be one of the best all around kites, In waves, on flat and for when you are stacked it jsut works!
