If you could only choose one of these two kite destinations to spend 1-2 months at this upcoming winter, which would it be? briefly, why? Thanks!

Mui ne is on the low budget side ( food ,beers, accommodations, etc...) and more services cater for kite boarder .Very safe to travel, no kidnap tourist for ransom,no terrorist. With 100 USD exchange to Vietnam Dong will make you an instant millionaire there. What more can you ask for?

Which place are you less likely to get bored of? I was in Baja for two weeks and found it boring after a few days b/c of the lack of diversity. Does Mui Ne or the Philippines have more variety of riding to keep things interesting?
Thanks for the tip about exchange rate that is important to me, to know that Vietnam is relatively cheaper.

Hello! If you are looking for good nightlife it would better to go to Boracay. Boracay White beach boasts of it's numerous bars, restaurants, girls, etc. The prices are higher than in MuiNe. Descent accomodation starts from 900 peso (20USD) per day, monthly price for apartments are from 15000 peso. The wind is constant in winter around 15-20 knots cross-onshore. Water is flat, shallow. The most popular sizes are 8-12m. The disadvantages are small lagoon (2km*0,5km), which is overcrowded (especially during Chrismas and New Year holidays), sea urgins, tides. Sometimes at low tide there is no water at all, at high tide you could have prisoblems with launching-landings because of palmtrees and narrow starting area. Another option is Bagasbas (Daet) but there is no night life at all. MuiNe is cheaper, but wind is not reliable. I was there 2 years ago and it was only 2 windy days of 7 days in January. MuiNe has 7 km long beach. So there are a lot of space but the main problem is waves. Howerever it depends what you are looking for. This place is not for beginners because of shorebreak and deep water. Also Vietnamese people are unfriendly and don't speak English. Kiteregards, Vlad.

I'm thinking about going to Mui Ne for 3 weeks over xmas and new year with my girlfriend who doesn't kite.
Is there much to occupy a non-kiter? Is the sea swimmer-friendly
Thanks

to Brian: To my opinion the sea in MuiNe is rough: deep water, waves, not clear, not comfortable especially when it's windy. For non-kiters it's better to swim in the pool. You can see the pictures in facebook http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?pi ... 3500166130Kiteregard, Vlad.

Last season we had 7 months of good winds with not too much shorebreak. Gets busy though December/January time. Shorebreaks can come in typhoon season wich is the months October to beginning of January but not all the time.. There are a couple of other places you can go to whilst being in Mui ne and they are a short travel from Mui ne beach. Vietnamese people are very friendly though!! I must disagree ,their english is not that bad either so i dont know where you get that experience from. Twan
