Paracas & Mancora - quiver advice

Postby Tiago1973 » Mon Sep 13, 2010 4:39 pm

Hi
I´m heading to Peru first week of December, Paracas and then Mancora. Would like to get an advise on my quiver: I´m planning to go w/ Flexi Ion4 - 7m and 12.5m w/ 20m+extension lines, riding TT, weight 75 Kg.

Do u reckon this to be an appropriate quiver for the local conditions?

Thanks
tiago

I was in Mancora/Paracas two Decembers ago and was fine with a 12 and 8m OR Rise, I'm 90kg. That sounds like a 2 kite spread that will cover what you need.

If you had a choice, I would consider going to Mancora first, then Paracas. I was in Mancora first week of Dec and people down there considered it right at the end of their windy season. I think I kited 3 of 6 days or something like that. On the other hand, December was considered right in the middle of the Paracas season, so it would work well later in the month.

Well, to be clear, 5.5m is a big spread between kite sizes, and depending on where you live, 10M may be your most used kite if you owned it!

But I was thinking in terms of travel-- if you had to travel, 2 kites is better than 3, and your 2 kites would definitely cover your whole range. But you may be happier with a 10M and a 7M, and just use a surfboard or bigger board to cover lighter days.
