Personnally, I'd say Rises relaunch a lot better than many kites I've had, especially high-aspect ones

Hi Crew,

Just a quick note to let you know that as of yesterday, 2011 Razor 10ms are in stock and shipping :thumb: . We have a limited number of these available, with more kites (including the full size run) coming in a few weeks. Contact your retailer to get one before these are gone!

Cheers,

Evan

Great! Looking forward to the rest of the range. I think mine will be the 8m.

Can you let me know sometime how the 8m would be for a 64.5kilo rider on a mini Mako in the low twenties mph? I heard the kite may have a great low end? My other board would be a directional.

Can we see a photo/description of the new bar with mini 5th?

Anyone interested in swap a 140x40 MAko freestyle wide (perfect conditions, pefect one-quiver board) for a 150x40? I'm more interested in waves..... :D

preferably in Europe.....

Maybe I just haven't found a good way to do it (I guess I don't drop them very often :) )

What is your strategy? I kind of try to get it going one way and then abruptly reverse and hope it roles over.

My biggest Rise is a 12M so I don't ride it in really light wind, but I've never had a bit of trouble with 8, 9 10, 12M 2008 or 2009 kites. Just steer to the edge of the window and up.
Maybe a 14 or 16 is harder?

I might just be thinking back to my old 5 line setup when I was learning, super easy to relaunch the 5 line, just reel it in and wait...

The SLE seem to take a bit more finagling... I'm talking 8, 10, 12 btw... In heavy wind no problem, but in lighter winds they take a bit of work...

The old 5 line setup, light wind was no problem at all... of course the kite flew like crap and the 5th line slowed it down, but relaunch was nice :0

Apparently, from the comments here, most SLE launch about the same. didn't mean to trash the relaunching of the RISE, the BEST KITE EVER!

My old T2 Slingshot relaunched really, really well.
The new lower aspect delta type kites go back up by themselves!
But I'm not sure they go upwind as well or jump as well as a Rise.

all 4 line kites can be relaunched by pulling the opposite front line of the back line you pull. That way the kite relaunch a similar way of the 5th line kites. Try it. I use it all the time at my ozone zephyr at really low wind , with much faster relaunch results.

Some pics of the new stuff from AWSI.

5'11 Surf.

Image

JT Pro, lighter, less expensive and more flex than the Zen.

Image

Mako King, all new wood core construction, ships stock with full deck pad. Lighter, stronger, more flex!

2011 Rise!

2011 Razor!

Razor mini-bridle!

Notice the additional pulley (this on on the 2011 Rise bridle as well). This is a really cool new arrangement which does not affect the in-flight performance of the kite in any way - under flying load it is " locked " in place and does not move. However, when the rider ejects and safeties the kite, this bridle travels along it's line, which places almost all of the tension on the front lines. The effect is to roll the kite (both Razor and Rise), almost completely onto its back ready for relaunch. This " flagged " position results in significantly less pull than on previous Rise models after ejection.

Image

Mako 130, 140, 150: 140 and 150 now with Mutant stance options, and all are wood core - lighter, stronger, more flex!

Image

2011 Freestyle bar. Above the bar depower, mini 5th.

Image

2011 Freeride bar. All new C/loop design for smoother/easier trim in and out!

Cheers,

Evan
