A type of board, excluded from most races. Goes upwind very well and very good in light winds.sshields wrote:Is Foil a brand or are foilboards a type of board? What makes them great? Thanks. - S
hydrofoil boards are where you ride on an airplane wing under the water. They are much better than planing on a board because the total wetted surface is about half that of a traditional planing board so you have a higher top end speed and lower friction at slow speeds. It also allows you to go upwind faster because the foil acts like a center board.sshields wrote:Is Foil a brand or are foilboards a type of board? What makes them great? Thanks. - S
