Ocean Rodeo Predator

Postby Minnow » Mon May 24, 2010 7:36 pm

Ok, I know its probably the wrong time of the year to be asking but
can anyone give feedback on the OR Predator drysuit?
Reviews are scarce online. Just wondering if they are worth the quite hefty price.
I want to make a decision before the ass falls out of the Euro completely and the price
goes up even more.

Tried it out twice over the wkd, I think they are awesome and they they look just like a wetsuit while making you look more buff ;) I'd say it's pretty much made riding a 365 activity now. Should be out again this week and will get some pics

The latest model has the zipper moved to the back, which seems to be very incompatible with wearing a waist harness. It's also closed from top to bottom... :-?

Jens,

The Predator is a 2 piece suit with the inner Drycore having a zipper that runs in a C shape, like a yolk around your neck. This loose fitting dry bladder is then made streamlined by the addition of a 0.5mm thin neoprene outer skin, which has the back zip you see there.

Our design includes this back zip set-up so as to allow an "armadillo" style overlay on the back, allowing the suit to remain highly flexible when the rider / surfer bends over or is jumping up. This zipper on the skin is a flat toothed, non water proof zipper and sits flush with your skin. We have many riders who wear a harness with the suit and have never received a complaint!

The Predator (Drycore Surf) drysuits are in stock and shipping world wide. If you Surf / SUP & kite, this is your absolute best suit option available for water normally requiring 4mm+ neoprene suits. The Predator has the flexibility of a 3mm, the buoyancy of a 4mm and the warmth of 7mm+!

Guys, the predator is an awesome drysuit, the zipper system works fine, it doesn't get in the way with the harness, and definitely you won't have to drive in your car with a drysuit on because you couldn't open the zipper by your own, this happened to myself before I got the predator.

Yes is a 2 piece suit, and it takes only 30 seconds more to put it on than a wetsuit, it looks good and what is more important, it works when you try to recover your board. It is not like other suits in the market that are more about fashion than performance.
I have tried almost everything out there and I have spent a lot of money (unfortunately ) getting the a drysuit that does the job.

For the records, I am living in a place where the water is 1 degree Celsius, I kite 3 times a week and since 2002. I'll post some pics soon.
Cheers
Charley

Its amazing how that outer .5mm layer can compress that oversized inner core like that.
NO chance of stressing those seams!
Are you using OR's undergarment too?

(that looks like a 60cm bar)

It is an old 60 cm bar, and yes OR undergarment as well. It blows my mind how good this suit is.
