Because it is the last hotel north of Playa Del Carmen. The rooms are bungalows and you really feel like you are in a virgin island or something like that. You have air conditioning ect. By staying in this hotel you will walk the least.
Just for the record I would like to inform you that Tulum is not 2 hours away. It is 40 minutes away.
man, you walk fast......
Dear brother, walking from Playa Del Carmen to Tulum would take two days and two nights. Feel free to measure the distance through Google Earth

The best option in playa del carmen is staying at Princess hotel, its an all inclusive 5 km north of playa del carmen, you can kite in xcalacoco beach beside the hotel, I kited today there and there was another kiter from the hotel, or you can stay at grand cocobay in playa del carmen, catalonia in xpu-ha, but they are little all inclusives, i hope we will have good wind in december

How is/was the wind the first week in December, I'm thinking about going to El Dorado Maroma that week. Any waves beyond the reef?

I kite during all the year in the Yucatan peninsula, and if you really want to kite as your primary activity, you should go to Progreso or Chicxulub in Yucatan, Its about 4 hours from Playa del Carmen.
If you are looking for a nice all inclusive hotel but not so windy, go to playa del carmen or Tulum y preffer Tulum is quiet and with nice vibe.
Our band kite in Progreso all the year.
Good luck,

I am trying to find a relatively upscale and baby friendly hotel in the area. I would like to just kite in front of the hotel if possible,
What about the Dreams Resort Tulum? Is it possible to kite in front of this hotel?
Thanks!
