Hi there guys.
I'm planning a trip to miami in March. And as I'm going to be there for 2 weeks, I'd like to kite while I'm there. Is the wind good in March? I heard that crandom park in key byscayne is a good spot? I would apretiate any recommendations.
Cheers
Tio.
there are really only 3 spots to ride in the miami, Matheson Hammock, Crandon Park, and South Beach. Crandon and Matheson require paying a fee to ride there...that's just part of riding in Miami.
to avoid the fees, head north to Dania Beach (north of the pier) for a nice beach and small crowds.
I try to avoid south beach like the plague
Matheson is epic for flat water stuff...freestyle heaven
Crandon has flats as well, and some good surf breaks on the rare occasion we get surf
here is a video from TODAY riding at crandon...a beautiful spot with plenty of open space

Crandon doubled their fees. I think it's $20 a day, $50 a week, or $100 for the season.
Both Matheson and Crandon require IKO Level 3 card to ride.
Damn, extortion in broad day light !!! that's why kiterboarders everywhere feel dirty about IKO,How long are those Miami kiteboarders willing to put up with this bull shit IKO scam ? take back your beaches, your right to kite you guys.No more submissive to this nonsense. Can any body give advices for these Miami local kiteboarders on how to take back their own beaches?

Unfortunately this is how we have taken back our kite beaches. Oversight and regulation is what was needed to allow kiting to stay in certain areas and has nothing to do with IKO. This needs to be a lesson to all......obey the rules and respect the responsibility that goes with kiting in areas that are shared with others.
