When I kite either on ice or really hard packed snow I slip on a pair of ice hockey referee shorts under my snowpants.
Not sure of the brand name but any decent hockey store would sell them. They have tons of padding where you need it and you can remove different parts of padding.

While I rarely wear them anymore, the Impact Shorts from Skeletools are a great product at a fair price.

I like the Hill Billy Pads myself, and the support their owner/designer gives back to the industry and events in both the kite and downhill mountain board world's.
Official website is
www.hillbillyprotection.com
We also have a few various sizes of the ASS PADZ in stock at Windzup, drop a line if you are interested. They wear like over sized boxers with pads all around.

Brian Schenck

I think you'll want elbow pads and possibly knee pads as well. It's easy to smash an elbow I found out.
