Towing someone

I just went across the post where people were saying that attaching yourself to a tree is really dangerous when kiting and I wondered if attaching someone that is on skis or on a sled to your harness is safe. I tought once about pulling my girlfriend or a photographer while riding on snow...

What do you think ?

Towing another person is not the same a tethering yourself to a fixed object. It is fairly easy to do on the snow if the person you are towing is a competent skier or snowboarder. The difference is that the forces generated are much lower than tethering since both you and the person you are towing will move when the kite is under load. The caveat is if you try to tow a very heavy person or a person that is unskilled in such a way that they work like an anchor.

I've towed my two daughters behind me in a sled. Mellow day, flat lake, steady wind, and a long rope on the sled. They had a blast. I'm usually not much of a spaz so I wasn't worried about getting yarded and yarding them too.

Yeah, the big concern here is being fixed to an object that is going to greatly increase the amount of resistance against the kite. You towing people behind you that are going to MOVE is just like people attaching a second buggy behind them on the beach. Do it all the time with no issue. Now, the problem becomes when the things being towed suddenly come to a stop... then you'll be in trouble, but as long as they keep moving, its all gravy.
