hey guys have had a couple different pairs but right now my 3mm just aren't doing it anymore my hands are cold!!!! how are the mystic dry gloves? or any other opinions on what you guys think work the best? do the dry gloves actually keep your hands dry when used with a wetsuit? thanks for any info

Dakine Neo-Mit Titanium mits are pretty good. Last time I have used them it was in +- 45 degrees water and I was ok.

I also like my xCel 3mm Infiniti Drylock.

Thing is you could go with something bigger but your forearms will ache soon as you won't have a good grip on the bar.

Dont go for Mystic Dry Gloves, everyone I know here on the East Coast of England that used them either binned them, or took them back due to having freezing hands. The most commonly worn gloves round my local spots in winter are Tikki Gloves

I have a pair of Musto fleece Mittens with Gore Windstopper - can't seem to find them listed, but they are very similar to:

I've used them in 55 deg F water and sub 50 deg air and fingers and hands stay warm.
So I think the whole key is keeping the wind off your hands. Also have a pair of Novara (REI) windstopper gloves that I will try this winter.

Guys we are talking. Sub freezing air, and 35 degree water. What gloves do you use Peter Frank? I have seen pictures of your frozen QR. You win the polar bear award.

I think I read over on the Laser Forum that The Laser frostbiters up in CT wear gloves that look like heavy duty dishwashing gloves with a thin liner glove underneath

I settled on one of two gloves that looked nice, the

Ocean Rodeo coldfire gloves



and the NRS reactor kayaking gloves



previously I was using 3mm o'neils



In the o'neils my hands were going numb in 40 water 50 air, but when I bought the ocean rodeo coldfires i have not had a problem since, going out in 40 water 25 air last week.

I am happy with the warmth of the ocean rodeo but I dont like how they wear, they are too fragile they arent gonna last that much longer for me. Next glove I am gonna try will be those kayaking gloves.

I would not go above 3mm you cant hold the bar, also precurved fingers helps keep your hands warm because you dont have to grip so hard. titanium laminate is incredible it really does work. Those mystic dry gloves dont have titanium as far as I know, which is probably why they dont work when its really cold.

Im normally a medium glove size but for the ocean rodeos I had to get a large, they fit pretty tight.

Im not into the mitts, I really like with the ocean rodeos I can actually do and undo my larks heads without taking off my gloves.

+1 regarding the OR gloves. really warm

the reason why i swapped to o`neill 3mm SLX glove is dexterity and windchill.

I used the Mystics for a while here in the UK - they are thin and you have a lot of dexterity but they aren't that warm.

I also tried both the 3mm and 5mm Gul options - the 5mm are ok for warmth but they're so thick and spongy that gripping the bar is a real pain.

The NRS Reactor look like they could be decent - anyone actually tried kiting in them?

The OR Coldfire are very strong and full welded Seams... 3mm



Also the Gul Flexore Mesh are supper flexi welded seam and smooth rubber top to prevent cold wicking. Full Welded seams help prevent the depower line from wearing them out between fingers.
