Hi Toby, firstly you have an huge oldschool level, and I do a lot of progress by watching your videos. Thank you a lot for the inspiration ! But ... it seems that you never grab the board with the tail, always with the handle. If I'm right, you should try without the handle: it's different, an other way to place your body, but it's a good challenge with new possibilities of tricks. After some months with bad timing, now it becames "easy" for me, and it's a great satisfaction because we know that a perfect board off is without the handle I hope that you will try and that you will share your imagination with this kind of tricks !

Quote: perfect board off is without the handle I don't agree with this. Some years ago they stopped the progression of boardoffs by taking away the handle. Since then moves were limited. I rather invent new tricks, than learning without a handle. I can do some tricks without handle, but it is nothing new... And if someone wants to be better, then he can do all my tricks without the handle...everyone is welcome to try it... Attachment:

Ouah, happy to have done this post, only to see this incredible second photo !! I think that you could do the same trick without the handle, by keeping the board in equilibrium on your foot At this time, I use no more the handle for simple board off, but continue for more complex board off (loops & co); my most perfect board off : backloop with splits (the best I can do ...) on the board, woiuld be better without the handle

nice jumping height...I like!
do you have a closer shot of this trick? Looks like you have both legs spread forward and holding the board in between?
I am working on my "magic 3 tricks"...cannot say what it is, but I don't land them yet, only butt-checked few times. NOT possible without handle!
And try to do a pass like this: board over head, through legs and behind back. With 10 secs air time you could without a handle...
But if you grab the board on the side, you need also something that makes it better to grab...like grip tape or some soft plastic part...and then you can also use a handle, which comes with the board when you buy it...

No better size, I take the board with the handle "between-under" the legs. The risk is to spend a too long pause, and not have the time to open the legs again You have right, a nude board is too "smooth", I can take the board with the fin, but else I have added a plastic bar like you can see on my old sk8. Good luck for your new tricks, sure that they will be impressive ! KiteBird

ok, I know the trick. Try to do the same and spin the board on the handle...see what I mean by limiting yourself with not using the handle?

BTW - when you use a plastic part there like this...where is the difference to the handle?
for me this handle discussion is bullox. And those who make jokes about it, ride boots anyway, so they shouldn't care at all...and go and break their knees and leave us alone!
