Camper rental in South of Spain?

Postby bruno » Wed Jan 19, 2011 8:33 pm

Hi,

we're planning a family holiday to the South of Spain at the beginning of May. Kiting in Tarifa and Canos of course, but also a tourist trip to the cities in Andalusia (Grenada, Sevilla, Cordoba). Basically we'll see how much driving our kids support and what the wind forecasts look like, and adjust our planning to that.

Can anyone recommend a good rental place for campers in the area? We will most probably be flying to Malaga or Jerez de la Frontera.

Thanks,

Bruno

Hello, in Sevilla you can rent at autocaravanasfacua. If you are thinking also of renting apartments i can help as i can rent you an apartment at sevilla or Benalmadena(malaga) for a good price

one more tip. I was ready to buy a caravan, but unfortunately spanish laws are quite restricting depending where you go. You can get a fine for parking, yes, parking (not sleeping or taking out chairs etc) in tarifa, or caños, and many other places along the coast. Height restrictions also in many beaches which means you cannot access to the beach and you dont have any place to park (or walk 1 km!)

Caravans are prohibited in many towns (laws saying caravans cannot park in that town), depends which town you go its prohibited or not. I know it sounds ridiculous and it is! Thats why finally i decided to buy a camper van (mercedes vito) which cannot be fined for just parking! Even if you sleep in a camping area you cannot go by caravan to the beach in Tarifa cause of height restrictions and potential fines. You may come and be able to stay without fines, but its something you have to think about

Good info, Speedy!
If I rent one, I will try to find one which isn't higher than a normal van, so at least we would have access everywhere (even risking a fine).
But reading this, and having had a look at the prices I've found on the internet, we may be better off renting a car and stay in apartments or hotels.
