you mention these IKA class rules, but I heard the requirement is also that the boards are production from 2012... do you think d'light will build them in series for the general market?

Don't think so because D'Light is a one person company. d'Jo does it al by him self. He is a custom shaper! But you never know? Production? Will be difficult I thing because than a lot of people we have to buy new boards again...

I really desagree with this rule... this is the end of local shapers, even they are building boarding with compliance to the box rules they cannot not be on the run...They have invested their time and money in developping course racing boards and now kite brand are steeling the market...Not fair
I am sure that the major kite companies have put a lot of pressure on ISAF IKA
IKA /ISAF is mentionning that they have make this rule to make the CR boards affordable...
this is totally untrue because most of the time custom board are cheeper

The IKA sight is a bit vague. I can't quite tell if all IKA races in 2012 will be production only or if only the production gear will count towards the IKA world rank standings.

from what I can tell 2011 will have a seperate production class at the worlds with all other IKA races left to decide if they want production only and in 2012 all IKA sanctioned race events will be on production boards only.
From my point of view its a good thing as there are already a lot of manufacturers bringing out registered boards in time for this years race season.
For me it as meant I am getting just 1 board at max size and will know I have the same sort of board as everyone else.
all the shapers are still going to continue to work on new shapes it just means that you will have a board for the year instead of a board being outdated after a few races
The top guys will sell their boards on cheap after a season which will mean others can get into racing knowing they have at least a competitive board from the previous year at a cheap price.
Much better as before no one wanted to buy a 6 month old race board as it was out of date.
Cant wait for my new Jay Factory 70 to turn up and get practising now its getting warmer here in Cornwall.
