Kite Course Racing Youth and Masters Worlds 2011

Postby Toby » Tue Feb 01, 2011 8:14 pm

The 2011 Youth and Masters Course Racing World Championships will be held in Douarnenez, France , from May 13-15 (May 12 registration day).

This age division world championship will feature youth (under 18 years), masters (35-44 years) and grand masters (45 years and over).

The age divisions are defined as follows:

youth: under 18: A competitor must not be older than the maximum age limit in the relevant age division by December 31st in the year of competition. This means competitors must NOT become 18 in 2011 but in 2012 earliest.

masters: 35 - 44: A competitor must have reached the minimum age limit in the relevant age division by December 31st before the year of competition. This means competitors MUST have become 35 in 2010 or earlier.

grand masters: 45 and over: A competitor must have reached the minimum age limit in the relevant age division by December 31st before the year of competition. This means competitors MUST have become 45 in 2010 or earlier.

More event information can be found shortly in the events calendar, as well as the Notice of Race

Well this just sounds stupid. Am I not getting it or what why would this be a separate event?

My understanding is the World Championship is held in Germany this year and whatever they want to do in France go for it but don't call it another World championship event.

No reason for everybody under 18 or over 35 to travel to 2 different world championship events!
