Jack Creek Dialed in! Jackson Hole Kiters...

Postby knewschool » Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:56 pm

Yesterday we schooled Jack Creek! We’ve been there a few times but never really got off any flights comparable to Bondurant’s, but yesterday we did. Bondurant being so icy and blown off we were bound to work on this area. It’s a little more intimidating than our other gliding hills because of the trees. When you take off you need to glide around a grove and then turn out to avoid gliding into a thick forest. The first leap off the hill into the air is pretty exciting as you fly over trees and down this valley. It’s actually not too bad and once we started getting comfortable we found lots of ways to glide around the trees. I did accidently have to squeeze between a couple tree tops here and there but it worked out great. This is one of the most interesting gliding spots I’ve been to. The valley you glide down gives you so much lift and at the landing you have all these reeds where you need to go for a long glide or if you want to pull some swings and loops you have to plan to stop short. Hit up Jack Creek for good snow and terrain if Bondo is icy!

How far is that location away from Jackson Hole? I am going on vacation at the end of the month and want to try a new location other than the Big Horns.

Would you need a snowmobile or can you just kite from your vehicle? Sorry for asking so many questions, but I am in dire need of a new kite location.

You can kite right from the car! If you come here its best to call one of us each day you go for a wind check. We post on facebook when and where we are going. I can make it to bondurant in 30 min with dry roads. be sure to call or do the facebook thing. wayne phillips 307-413-3977 see ya later!

here is a video from that day!
