Fozen Face - help

I was kiting the other day in -25 C weather (no including wind chill, blowing 15-19 knots), and basically froze my face good. I’ve always resisted using a face mask just because they seem uncomfortable with the condensation that builds up from breathing.

Anyway, I can’t do that again, and suggestions on how to protect one face? Any good masks to consider? Or just use a big scarf?

I use a balaclava and wear a full face. Some ppl give you the gears saying you look like Darth Vader but whatever I'm warm and protected.

And Darth Vader is a badass.

I know what you mean about fogging and moisture im not a fan of face wear but if its supa cold like you mentioned it can mean dead skin quickly. Maybe turn up the vents or add some anti fog to the lenses of your goggles.

I've seen paintball masks used too but then again its that annoying feedback you get with warm moisture coming back at you when you exhale. Good luck.

I have a mask that I got in a snowmobile shop it has a big deflector to aim your breath down. Works very well under a kite helmet. Check some online stores.

I ride in below freezing conditions quite a bit, and I don't like things on my face, neck, or nose. I've tried the Buff and Seirus products and found them a bit too bulky or uncomfortable. I recommend getting a couple of ultralight balaclavas and rotate them if they get wet. My favorite so far is by Marmot. I think this is the one I have...

It's a very thin, and silky type fabric.

I also just got one made of merino wool by terramar, and it's super soft, but I find the face hole a bit too small. Sometimes it moves to where I can see it and it bothers me. But it may work for others...
