S2 19m SA vs. 15m Manta?

Postby wadoepotatoe » Sat Feb 05, 2011 11:48 pm

Has anyone flown these 2 kites back to back? I've got a S2 SA and I'm wondering what the difference is in the low-end between this kite and the 15m Manta (M1, M2, or M3). Any feedback on the Manta would be greatly appreciated. I fly my S2 on the snow in 7-14knots and I've never used the kite on the water which is why I'm curious about the Manta. Thanks in advance,

-wade.

Nearly positive that Joel and Tony at Montana Kite Sports have flown both. Possibly on the same day. Joel, you reading this? :)

I've got about 25 hours on the Manta M3 now and am really impressed with this kite. Power and quite quick for a big kite. my range on this kite is 10 kms to 35-40. Big range and tons of pop. Could not be more pleased with this kite and it will always be in my quiver.

S2 19m got better low end then Manta 2 15m, but manta turns faster and I think is better choice for snowkiting ...
S2 19m is super low wind machine .. when the wind picks up you pray to land the jumps and land the kite after... it's a great kite for low steady winds, Mantas or Speeds 3 got much better wind range

didn't fly Manta 3, had Manta 1 10m and tried Manta 2 15m great kites, with tons of power ... safer then S2 and more fun

I would suggest you Speed 3 15 Deluxe or Manta 3 15 ... you should be comparing these 2 kites

My weight is about 210 lb. and with snowkiting I am approaching expert status (300 hours on snow), In my own mind anyway. Snow conditions in the foot range, if it was solid ice I would say the range would top out at 25-30 k max, but with any amount of snow 40 k is right at the limit for me, but still in complete control, gusts are another matter however. This thing is a glider of the first order but I have no experience with Flysurfer, so I cannot comment on the 19m but I think that the range would be less for sure as a previous poster pointed out!

The SA 19 is much more powerful...
But the Ozones are great snowkites for open Cell if you don't need as much Power.
I've used both and the SA 2 19m on water many times....

Just switch to the Manta when you are too powered on the 19m.

19m on water here... Powerfull summer and winter.

Winter Super light on the 19m:

We sell both Ozone and Flysurfer so we get our customers on what works best for what they need..
