Yo, for this time of year you may have to go a bit further south to nha trang or mui ne to get the south westerlies
windguru.com lists those 2 spots and this site has info on number of days kite-able
http://www.windsurf-vietnam.com/wind%20speed.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
im hoping to be there in july

Hey bcc,
Yea sheep is right. You probably need to head further south to mui ne. I was there mid march for a week and the wind was predictable every day. Wind range was about 15 knots in the morning to about 20 to 25 by early afternoon. Really great place for kiting with tons of kite schools all the way up the beach. I rented gear from a local Vietnamese guy called mr lee, well sound guy.
Spent a few days aswell in Hoi An but didn’t see any kitesurfing to be honest, its more of a place to spend a few days to get cheap suits made.

'ey a few of us are going there in mid september, hoping for the best. We know its not know for the wind this time of year but what the hey, its a great country for a holiday and to get some kiting in is a bonus. It'll be third time for us, can't wait.
We love the smell of pho bo in the morning, smells like Nam to me!
cheers,

Danang: You'll definatley get waves in September, I'm not too sure as for winds you might get lucky with some Storm fronts.
Hoi An: I heard a guy was looking to set up a school there, so I'm gussing there's wind but not sure how good. No real reports on Hoi An although it would be interesting to hear if anybody has!!
Nha Trang: Word on the street is theres a couple of good spots including flat water near the Airport that get some good steady winds around this time.
Mui Ne: It's hit and miss in September, I think everybody's optimistic this year for the low season as we've already had some fantastic 20Knot+ South Westers. And the local fishermen say the cycle is back and it's going to be a windy year. Fingers crossed. We had a good season 07/08.

Hi,
I have been in Hoi An for 2 days now and kited both days in 14-17knots, both days have been different directions which is strange? I am kiting on my own with just grannys getting wetter than otters pockets at my array of tricks!! haha
I did not expect to kite here as I'm on the way to mui ne. The waves seem to be bigger and break further out than Mui ne, I had a few nice rides today on head high waves.
Nice beach setup...check it out!

We have been to Mui Ne Vietnam last Year and it is a very good place for Kitesurfing. Good reliable wind, about 25 knots almost every day. We met great people and spend an awesome time in a very relaxed atmosphere.
Mui Ne Sports holds about 7 schools in the Mui Ne Bay. Our favorite one was in Coco Beach Hotel.
Wind Regards,
