We had a big adventure yesterday in the backcountry here in Wy. Some sledding, 2,200ft of skinning with no trail, and some technical kiting got us to the top. I opted out on some of the technical trees, while Wayne and Pascal went for it anyway. I sure was pissed off skinning along their tracks thinking the whole time that I should’ve at least tried, but in the last 2 weeks I’ve treed my kite twice. I had to do some home sewing repairs on my gliding kite to keep it in check. I tell you what, you’ve got to be dialed to efficiently break down you’re split board and pack your (inflatable) kite just for a quick skin through some trees. Then 10 min later, bust out pumping and un-splitting your board just to keep up with the skier nerds who don’t care about trees. Props to those suckers anyways, I couldn’t believe they did it and those pictures don’t lie. There’s a good half mile of trees exactly like those pics. We had too dangerous of wind to really shred once we got up there so it ended up being a get your kite down panic style then a fun ski out kind of adventure. We were hoping for some good gliding with terrain and cliffs and such, but the gusty SSE wasn’t like the light SSW that was forecasted, and our visibility was fading fast. Anyway, good adventure but far from park and play that’s for sure!
