Goa

Postby ChickenTikka » Sat Jan 22, 2011 6:31 pm

I went to Morjim Beach up in Goa last week with the girlfriend and brought the kite equipment along (just in case).

The beach would be ideal for kite beginners (if it had steady wind). Absolutely huge, tons of space, sandy, shallow, flat water etc.

I was happy that on one of the five days I was in Goa I was able to get out for a brief 1 hour session around sunset. Definitely cool to kitesurf in India.

While I don't think the wind is ever great in India I'll definitely go back (one hour flight from Bombay) if the wind is ever somewhat good.

P.S. if the Indian guy giving a lesson to a body dragging Russian tourist who screamed at me while I was teaching my girlfriend to waterstart, "Dude, It's a f*cking highway get out of my lane," is reading "I love you!"

sounds good! Do you have any pictures of the beach itself?

Thanks

I'm a lousy photographer:

This one shows my gf looking upwind at the end of the beach. Flat, sandy, safe.

This second one shows the downwind view:

Plenty of sand to set up your lines. You can do a long downwinder all the way to Baga around the mountain in the distance. (if you had wind)

I just did four days down in Goa. For the first time ever, the wind cooperated for me and I kited 3 out of four. On one of the three days the wind was so powerful I was overpowered by my 12 meter.

Wind forecast looks good for next weekend too, so might just return.
