We had a great adventure yesterday up to Angle Mountain on WSW for the first time. We’ve usually targeted S to SE but I’ve had my weather station up there and decided it was worth a look on SW’ish direction since my weather station seemed to love that wind and looking at the graph it’s a freaking beautiful windy place with SW. My buddies Brian Fox, Carson king, Clint Green and I decided to get up there with the hope of some sun spots on a somewhat stormy day. The snow was so deep that we had to make a bunch of attempts on a couple hill climbs and without Carson’s sledneck skills we might have given up. But once we laid in a nice track up the hard hills we were all over it. Without bottomless snow you can get up there in 15min from the car. The first picture is Clint riding around in the Angle Mountain bowl. My goal with the weather station is to utilize the SW wind up there and that massive bowl for gliding. With SW the wind blows straight up that thing. So far it’s been too intimidating, but one of these days we’re going to hit it and then it’ll be a flying fest like Sublete Bowl which you can see in the background of some of those pics and needs NW for gliding. The couple of mini gliding hills are great right off the cuff with some nice deep snow landings and maybe 20 seconds in the air kind of a thing. The bowl should deliver over a minute length glides. Anyway, forgot the camera so here’s what I could do with my phone.
Cheers,
