I'm looking to take a trip near the beginning of July. The caribbean is what I'm thinking, and I'm wondering which islands have the best winds then? How's Cuba in July? What about the DR? Any other suggestions welcome as well. USA or Mexico not out of the question either. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Toby. I've done Brazil. It's great, but quite the hike from Toronto.
Right now the front-runners are SPI (South Padre Island), Dominican (thinking Peurto Plata), and Cuba. Just wondering if anyone has been to these places in July and could comment. Also, if I'm missing a must go to spot in the Caribbean, etc. please let me know.

Very interested in Turks and Caicos. How is the wind during July? Is it as reliable for wind in July as the Dominican Republic? Thanks!

Hurricane season starts on June 1, which means the winds become inconsistent in most of the Caribbean. In July, we would recommend the Venezuelan islands and Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, which have the best wind stats.
Good luck!

So after some research and talking to local kiters, I've found out that Turks and Caicos is kind of a mixed bag in July. Generally the kiting there in July is on bigger kites (14s). Apparently last July was really good with many 12m days. Basically, it sounds like a roll of the dice, as many places are. March and April are said to be a good months there. Use wunderground.com and search 'pls' for wind data. I think I'm going to the DR for a better chance of wind in July.
