What difference do channels make, if any?

Postby mattma » Mon May 16, 2011 8:57 am

Hi All

I'm just toying around with plans for my new board and started paying attention to the channels appearing on new boards. Double concave, cabrihna's quad concave etc. Would seem to add some complexity to DIY construction so wanted to see what the concensus was on whether they actually did anything and if so how and when?

Cheers
Matt

I love the channels on my liquid force DLX. I'll ride a normal freestyle board again. The channels make it track teally good when you're edging, but flatten the board and it's. Perfect for landing blind, because you can easily slide the last way around without crashing.

And landings are so soft and smooth. Way more control in the landings...

Hi Larse,

Thanks for you post. I noticed in your wakestyle board you spoke about 'accelerator channels' and wonder what they were and how they worked?

Cheers

That's just a name I came up with for the 3 deep channels in the middle. Tje channels fades out tiwards the tip and accelerates the water, which hives it more lift, early planning and better upwind. Great for light wind boards...
